My father was a photographer, and I grew up in the darkroom where as a young child I imaged magic occurred under amber light, in trays of strange smelling potions on paper dabbed with tongs until images appeared. My father gave me my first camera when I was seven and a more sophisticated camera when I graduated from high school. We often reviewed my images and discussed composition and the qualities of a good photograph. Here I am, about age seven, with my first camera: a Brownie Reflex.
